THE WINES OF ORULISA

And now we also make wine, because we have vineyards

Although we have been making wines for 30 years, until the 2016 harvest we have not launched our first wine made with our Liébana grape, within the PGI “Vino de la Tierra de Liébana” with a very reduced production.

We like to produce simple, honest fresh wines with character, expressing the variety of grapes and the soil of the Liébana lands. We have a vineyard annexed to the distillery, planted in 1986 with grafts of mencía and palomino from the area, and 6 small plots of old vineyard that we are recovering in the area of Pumareña with vines between 60-100 years old. With varieties such as mencía, garnacha tintorera, tempranillo, albillo, palomino, moscatel and albarín white and red.

Since April 2018 our plots of Pumareña are registered in the international register of Heroic Viticulture (CERVIM) since they are in lands of altitude superior to 500 meters and with slopes all superior to 30%, traditional cup-shape vine training and with autochthonous varieties. Very few vineyards in our country meet these extreme requirements for the cultivation of the vine that makes it totally impossible to use mechanical means for its care.
